CHINS, or child in need of services, is the type of case in Indiana where a child is removed involuntarily from their parent(s) due to drug or child abuse, violence or neglect. In Kentucky, these cases are referred to as DNA, or dependency, neglect and abuse.

The goal of these cases is reunification of the family, however a parent can have their rights involuntarily terminated, meaning that they can completely and permanently lose their right to see their child(ren) ever again.

If you are involved in a CHINS or DNA case, it is a very good idea for you to have legal representation to help you work through the system to get your child(ren) back.
